Saji
Extraordinary men of workshop Saji
Like all Japanese blacksmiths, knifemaker Saji san seems twenty years younger than his 60 plus years. A gentle handshake and a quiet, friendly demeanour are in strict contrast to the strong blades he hammer forges in true Echizen Uchihamono style.
Officially recognised as Master Craftsman by the Japanese Ministry of Industry, Trade and Economy his workshop also sports a trophy cabinet full of awards from knife societies and magazines around the world. Saji san's passion is creating hunting knives, many of them one of a kind and recently kitchen knives.
Luxurious handle materials are matched with exotic steels to create a limited range of Japanese kitchen knives. Saji knives are handmade, hammer forged one by one in the Echizen workshop.
A family business, Saji works alongside Nomura san and their small crew, some of the most talented blacksmiths, handlemakers and sharpeners we have ever seen.
Chef’s Armoury are proud to be the official agent for Saji knives in Australia.
